GVS Filter Technology UK has officially opened its new \u00a314m manufacturing facility and office complex in Lancaster, marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony with company representatives, main contractor Conlon Construction, principal architect Cassidy + Ashton and the wider project supply chain.<\/p>\n
The project transformed a 24,000sqm former Sofidel site on Caton Road, Lancaster into a sustainable and captivating riverside location, delivering a transformative UK headquarters that pays homage to the Italian manufacturer\u2019s heritage.<\/p>\n
Staff have now relocated from GVS\u2019 previous UK base in Morecambe, with all c.200 employees moving into the new two-storey, low-carbon waterside development, supporting the company\u2019s drive towards net zero.<\/p>\n
With roots stretching back to 1979, GVS manufactures highly technical filtration systems for healthcare, life science, safety and automotive sectors. The new Lancaster facility brings together advanced manufacturing and office accommodation under one roof, creating a modern base for its UK operations.<\/p>\n
Leveraging extensive experience in delivering sustainable projects, Conlon incorporated renewable energy and heat transfer management systems into the build in accordance with Cassidy + Ashton\u2019s design.<\/p>\n
The new headquarters also features a sophisticated drainage system that channels surface water through grassed swales within the car park, leading to a meticulously landscaped wildlife pond, before ultimately releasing the water into the River Lune.<\/p>\n
The Preston-based contractor worked alongside architecture, planning and building surveying practice Cassidy + Ashton, who designed the scheme and secured planning permission for the ambitious project.<\/p>\n
The completed development has transformed an existing warehouse into GVS\u2019s new production facilities, comprising injection moulding and high-tech filter manufacturing, carried out under cleanroom standards. Conlon also delivered space for warehousing and storage, plus a striking reception, office and administration area.<\/p>\n
Conlon and Cassidy + Ashton have a longstanding track record of delivering high-spec projects together in the North West, including the transformation of the Lancaster University Management School.<\/p>\n
