Conlon Construction, the leading Preston-based contractor behind the transformation of the Harris Museum, Art Gallery and Library, has raised an incredible \u00a316,556* for its 2025 Charity of the Year, Rosemere Cancer Foundation, through a series of team challenges and creative fundraising initiatives.<\/p>\n
The fundraising efforts saw employees across all areas of the business come together to support the charity, which provides vital funding for world-class cancer care, cutting-edge equipment and patient support across Lancashire and South Cumbria.<\/p>\n
The biggest single contribution came from Conlon\u2019s participation in the Born Survivor challenge, where a 16-strong team, including Chairman Michael Conlon, took on a gruelling 10km military-style obstacle course in the Ribble Valley. The event, held in September, raised \u00a37,886 for Rosemere and saw staff tackle over 30 military-grade obstacles from cold-water plunges to climbing walls.<\/p>\n
The company also hosted its ever-popular annual Golf Day, which brought together clients, suppliers and industry partners to raise \u00a35,600.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Neil Conlon, Business Development Lead, took on a Coast-to-Coast cycle challenge, pedalling more than 250 miles from John o\u2019 Groats to Oban, to add another \u00a31,000 to the total.<\/p>\n
Adding to the year\u2019s achievements, Mick Fielding, a site employee, completed the Morecambe Bay Walk, raising an impressive \u00a31,210 for the cause.<\/p>\n
In a creative twist on fundraising, Conlon employees raised \u00a3860 by making voluntary donations to keep their old company mobile phones after a recent upgrade, with all proceeds going directly to Rosemere.<\/p>\n
The connection between Conlon and Rosemere goes back decades. In the 1990s, a young Michael Conlon was the contracts manager on the construction of The Lancashire and Lakeland Cancer Unit at Royal Preston Hospital \u2013 the very facility that would later become the Rosemere Cancer Centre.<\/p>\n

I have personally experienced the exceptional care they provide, and it\u2019s been inspiring to see our team come together, from tackling Born Survivor to organising events and getting creative, to raise funds for such an important cause. Most importantly, it\u2019s helped to support the people and community around us.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Rosemere Cancer Foundation supports around 70,000 cancer patients each year across Lancashire and South Cumbria, including those treated at the Rosemere Cancer Centre at Royal Preston Hospital. The foundation funds cutting-edge medical equipment, pioneering research and patient welfare initiatives, all aimed at improving the lives of those affected by cancer.<\/p>\n
To round off the year of fundraising, Michael Conlon and employees from across the business were joined by Sue Swire, Rosemere\u2019s Fundraising Manager, at Conlon\u2019s Bamber Bridge headquarters to officially hand over the cheque for \u00a316,556*<\/p>\n
