Delivering a purpose-built training and accommodation facility for the next generation of Army Cadets
Client: North West Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (NW RFCA)
Conlon Construction delivered a new Weekend Exercise Training Centre and County Headquarters for the North West Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association (NW RFCA) at Holcombe Moor, creating a dedicated base to support training, development and operational activity for cadet units across Greater Manchester.
The Challenge
The Army Cadet Force required a modern, purpose-built facility capable of supporting both residential training activities and day-to-day operational functions. The development needed to provide high-quality accommodation, dedicated training space and a permanent headquarters, while incorporating sustainable technologies to reduce long-term running costs.
Our Solution
Conlon delivered a fully integrated training and accommodation facility comprising:
- Two residential accommodation blocks providing 202 cadet bed spaces
- A dedicated County Headquarters building for Army Cadet Force staff and operations
- Modern facilities designed to support weekend training programmes and residential activities
- Ground source heat pump technology to improve energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions
- External works and supporting infrastructure across the site
The Outcome
The completed facility provides a long-term training and operational base for the Army Cadet Force, supporting the development of young people from across Greater Manchester.
By combining residential accommodation, operational headquarters and renewable energy technology within a single purpose-built development, the project has created a modern, sustainable facility that will support cadet training and leadership development for many years to come.
