Developed to serve the needs of the local community, the centre provides a welcoming and inclusive environment for people of all ages, creating opportunities for recreation, education, wellbeing and social connection.
The Challenge
The project required the delivery of a highly versatile community facility capable of accommodating a wide range of services and user groups, including specialist provision for children with profound learning and physical disabilities.

- Community library
- Crèche facilities
- Community and meeting rooms
- Youth club facilities
- IT suite
- Fitness suite
- Activity studio
- Staff offices and support accommodation
- Jake’s Sensory World, a specialist sensory play environment for children with complex needs
The project also included:
- A phased construction programme to maintain uninterrupted community services
- New car parking facilities
- Extensive landscaping works
- Demolition of the original community centre upon completion
- Public realm improvements across the wider site
The Outcome
