Transforming a key operational facility for Lancashire Constabulary
Client: Lancashire Constabulary
Conlon Construction delivered the extensive refurbishment of Skelmersdale Police Station, modernising a five-storey operational building to create a secure, efficient and future-ready policing environment.
The project transformed an ageing facility into a contemporary workplace that better supports operational policing, staff wellbeing and evolving service requirements.
The Challenge
The existing building required substantial refurbishment, including replacement of deteriorating external elements and a complete remodelling of the internal environment.
The project also needed to maintain operational continuity and deliver enhanced security measures appropriate for a modern policing facility.
Our Solution
Conlon delivered a comprehensive refurbishment programme, including:
- Removal of the existing deteriorated concrete façade
- Installation of a new over-cladding system
- Replacement of all external windows
- Full internal strip-out across five floors
- Complete remodelling of office and operational spaces
- New mechanical and electrical systems
- Building-wide data and communications infrastructure
- New 2.4m high security fencing
- Enhanced pedestrian and vehicle access controls
- Separate vehicle entry and exit arrangements
The works created a more secure, efficient and flexible environment capable of supporting modern policing operations.
The Outcome
The completed refurbishment has transformed 2,300m² of accommodation into a modern operational facility that meets the needs of Lancashire Constabulary both now and in the future.
Delivered within a live policing environment, the project demonstrates Conlon’s expertise in delivering complex, highly secure public-sector facilities where operational continuity, stakeholder management and quality are critical to success.
