Expanding specialist cancer care facilities
Client: Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
Conlon Construction delivered a new Oncology Outpatient Unit at Royal Preston Hospital, expanding the Rosemere Cancer Centre and enhancing access to specialist cancer treatment and support services across Lancashire. The project formed part of the ongoing development of the Rosemere campus, with Conlon playing a significant role in multiple phases of its growth.
The Challenge
The new facility needed to be delivered on a constrained infill site within a live hospital environment, requiring extensive service diversions and careful coordination to minimise disruption to existing healthcare operations.
Our Solution
Conlon delivered a new three-storey facility linked directly to the existing Rosemere Cancer Centre, including:
- Chemotherapy day wards
- Treatment rooms
- Consultant offices
- Administration accommodation
- Patient support facilities
- New connections to existing cancer care services
- Relocated entrance arrangements and access improvements
The project required careful planning and infrastructure works to accommodate the building within a restricted site while maintaining operational continuity across the wider hospital campus.
The Outcome
The completed facility has expanded capacity for specialist cancer care, creating a modern environment for treatment, consultation and patient support. The development continues Conlon’s longstanding contribution to the growth of the Rosemere Cancer Centre and the enhancement of healthcare provision across the region.
