On the 28th August we handed over phase one of our Armfield Academy project to client FCAT (Fylde Coast Academy Trust) four weeks ahead of programme. It will eventually have the capacity to teach 1,280 children between the ages of 2 and 16 by September 2019.
Chairman Michael Conlon gave Headteacher Mark Kilmurray and executive principal Chris Lickiss a tour of the newly completed primary school – including an historic lectern salvaged from the closed Arnold School.
Tony Nicholson, CEO of FCAT, said:
The leadership of the new school and the FCAT staff who attended the event were very impressed with the high quality of the building and its design features and with the fact that your team had completed this part of the project earlier than anticipated. We recognise that achieving that result had taken significant additional effort on the part of your management and staff and we are very grateful.
Michael said:
The facilities are “cutting edge” and former pupils will recognise the original structure and entrance, but, pretty much, inside it is all new. We are looking forward to the completion of the secondary school next September.
